Rome family hotel with pool. 12 kilometers from the Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport. This Holiday Inn (IHG) hotel in Rome is a decent and friendly hotel – unlike the Crown Plaza in Rome, which is another IHG hotel.
Traveling all over the world, it is interesting how different the Holiday Inn hotels are and how much the quality differs. This hotel pretty much delivers what they promise. Stay here if you don’t mind the occasional (charter) group of travelers.
Staff is nice and friendly, the internet works ok, rooms are decent and the pool area with lounge chairs close by is nice. Yes, the pool does get crowded in the summer. So it pays to be an early riser.
BEWARE about the airport shuttle, which does not work after 21.00 (9 pm). That was a surprise to us – but luckily we found a cab-driver with a large enough car to fit all of our luggage, and all 4 of us. We shelled out €40 for that short ride. Fair enough, I suppose.
Water pressure is not all that great and if you are looking for some TV entertainment, you better speak Italian 😉
The area is rather dull. Not much to see, but then again the Holiday Inn Rome Eur Parco dei Medici is not too far away from all the sights in central Rome.
It is well known that Italy does not have a particularly good service culture. But this hotel is an exception. We found the staff friendly and helpful.
The location is great for the Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport.
